WillsRecent studies by Will Aid have shown that a shocking 50% of Britons do not have a valid Will. It is something we keep putting off until tomorrow, but for some of us, tomorrow never comes and we put it off for yet another day. It is vitally important that you have a valid will in force whether your assets amount to £5,000 or £5,000,000 to avoid heartache, conflict and expense for your loved ones at an already difficult time. There are many reasons to make a Will and some more personal than others, but below are a few good reasons why: To ensure your wishes are carried out exactly as you wanted them to be To avoid conflict between family members To appoint a legal guardian for any children To ensure partners who are unmarried benefit as you wish To prevent your house/assets from being sold whilst someone in your family still needs it To ensure the Taxman doesn’t take it all (Inheritance Tax precautions) To preserve specific assets for future generations Before you instruct us in making your Will, have a think about your assets and what you would like to leave to whom when you pass. Please download our Will Guidance Form below to help you along the way. Once you are happy with your ideas (these do not have to be set in stone), let us know and we can proceed to make your Will with you. Once it has been completed, we will give you a copy and the original will be stored securely with us unless you wish otherwise. You can update your Will as often as you like, but we advise you to update your will upon the following major events in your life where money or legal relationships are involved. For example: Marriage Divorce Major Assets Sold (Property, Shares, Stock, Business etc.) Major Assets Acquired (Property, Shares, Stock, Business etc.) If you need a new Executor of your Estate (e.g. your named Executor dies) Birth of Children Please remember that making a Will is extremely important, but also remember that you can add amendments or even make another Will should your circumstances change.
