Power of Attorney

Worried about your future?
Who will look after your affairs and business if you become mentally or physically ill or incapable?

With an increasingly elderly population, there is a growing need for people to delegate control of financial and legal affairs to others close to them.

A Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) allows you to appoint someone to look after your affairs should you become incapable of doing so yourself.
It can relate to your property and affairs or your personal welfare and must be granted while you are of sound mind.
The document must be registered with the Office of the Public Guardian if it is to have a legal standing.
A registered LPA can be used at any time, whether or not you have the mental ability to act for yourself.
It cannot normally be revoked following registration, therefore you should only grant an LPA to a person, or persons whom you trust i.e. your spouse or children.
